Upcoming AIIMS Colleges in India
In addition to the 20 existing AIIMS colleges, the government has announced plans to establish four new AIIMS institutes in the following locations:
• AIIMS Awantipora, Kashmir Region
• AIIMS Manethi, Haryana
• AIIMS Darbhanga, Bihar
• AIIMS Manipur
The Union Cabinet has approved a proposal to set up these new AIIMS colleges, aligning with the government’s vision of improving healthcare accessibility and the doctor-patient ratio.
Government’s Vision
The primary goal behind establishing new AIIMS branches is to create a balanced doctor-patient ratio, addressing the increasing healthcare demands of the population. The government is also focused on expanding the number of MBBS and postgraduate seats in these colleges to combat the shortage of medical professionals and enhance the quality of healthcare services across the country.
These efforts aim to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure and provide quality medical education to a broader audience.

AIIMS MBBS Counselling and Admission Process:-
The counselling for AIIMS MBBS is conducted under the All India Quota (AIQ) by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Here’s a step-by-step explanation of the process:
1. NEET UG Qualification
• AIIMS admissions are now based entirely on NEET UG scores.
• Only candidates who qualify NEET UG and meet the required cutoff are eligible for counselling.
• AIIMS is one of the most sought-after institutions, so a high NEET score (usually 680+ for top campuses like AIIMS Delhi) is necessary.
2. MCC Counselling Registration
AIIMS seats are allocated through MCC counselling.
Steps to Register:
1. Visit the MCC Website: Go to www.mcc.nic.in.
2. Create an Account: Use your NEET Roll Number and Application Number to register.
3. Pay Counselling Fees:
• Non-Refundable Registration Fee:
• ₹1,000 (General/OBC/EWS)
• ₹500 (SC/ST/PwD)
• Refundable Security Deposit:
• ₹10,000 (General/OBC/EWS)
• ₹5,000 (SC/ST/PwD).
4. Upload Documents: Upload required documents like NEET scorecard, ID proof, etc.

• Key Points:
• You can select multiple AIIMS campuses.
• Arrange them according to your priority.
• Lock your choices before the deadline, or they will be automatically locked by MCC.
5. Seat Allotment Process
MCC conducts seat allotment in multiple rounds:
Rounds of Counselling:
1. Round 1: Initial allocation based on NEET rank, category, and preferences.
2. Round 2: For candidates who were not allotted a seat or opted for an upgrade.
3. Mop-Up Round: For vacant seats after Round 2.
4. Stray Vacancy Round: Conducted directly by AIIMS campuses for leftover seats.
Options After Seat Allotment:
• Accept (Freeze): Confirm the seat and proceed for admission.
• Upgrade (Float): Retain the current seat while waiting for a better option in the next round.
• Decline: Reject the seat and exit counselling.
6. Reporting to Allotted AIIMS Campus
After seat allotment, candidates must report to the allotted AIIMS campus for:
1. Document Verification: Carry original documents for verification (see below).
2. Medical Examination: Candidates undergo a fitness test.
3. Fee Payment: Pay the admission fee (approx. ₹1,628 annually).
7. Documents Required
Candidates must carry the following documents:

SERVICE BOND, DISCONTINUE BOND, STATE QUOTA & STIPEND:-
Here’s a detailed explanation of the service bond, discontinue bond, state quota, and stipend for AIIMS MBBS students:
1. Service Bond in AIIMS for MBBS
• AIIMS MBBS Students are not required to sign a service bond after completing the MBBS course.
• Students are free to pursue postgraduate studies or work in any healthcare setting without any mandatory service commitment.
• However, state-sponsored candidates (those receiving financial aid from the state) may have specific service bond requirements to serve in the respective state for a certain period, though this is generally not applicable to AIIMS as a central institution.
2. Discontinue Bond in AIIMS for MBBS
• If a student discontinues the MBBS course after admission, they may be required to pay a discontinue bond penalty.
• Penalty Amount: The bond amount varies by campus but typically ranges between ₹5-10 lakh. This fee compensates AIIMS for resources and opportunities utilized during the initial phase of education.
• The bond is applicable if a student leaves the course midway, either voluntarily or due to personal reasons.
3. State Quota for AIIMS MBBS
• AIIMS does not have a state quota for MBBS admissions.
• The MBBS seats at AIIMS are filled based on NEET-UG ranks, and all candidates compete in a single pool, regardless of their state of origin.
• However, 50% of the seats are reserved for AIIMS internal candidates (those who have completed their schooling from AIIMS).
• The remaining 50% of seats are open for candidates from other medical colleges across India, including state candidates, as per the NEET-UG rank.
4. Stipend for AIIMS MBBS Students
• Internship Stipend:
• AIIMS MBBS students are provided with a stipend during their 1-year internship after completing their final year.
• The stipend is approximately ₹23,000–₹28,000 per month, depending on the campus.
• This stipend is paid to support living expenses during the mandatory internship, where students gain hands-on clinical experience in hospitals.
• Other Benefits:
• Free hostel accommodation (for most campuses).
• Subsidized meals in the mess.
• Access to other student facilities like sports, library, etc.
